From New Latin choroides, from Ancient Greek χοροειδής (khoroeidḗs, alteration of χοριοειδής (khorioeidḗs, “like the afterbirth”)), from χόριον (khórion, “membrane that encloses the fetus in the womb, afterbirth”) + -ειδής (-eidḗs, “-like”).
