Borrowed from Hindi संघी (saṅghī), from Hindi संघ (saṅgh, “association, union”), clipping of राष्ट्रीय स्वयंसेवक संघ (rāṣṭrīya svayansevak saṅgh, “Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh”), a Hindu nationalist right-wing group in India.
